Based in North Wales, the Brynafon String Quartet is a vibrant ensemble with experience of performing in recitals, recording sessions, corporate functions and weddings. The quartet boasts a varied repertoire list, ranging from classical music to folk, pop, jazz, TV hits and tango. We are able to offer personalised arrangements to fit any occasion.
Founded in 2007 by Olivia Jago (MMus BMus), Carolyn Burton (BMus), Daire Roberts (MMus BMus) and Morgana Warren-Jones (BMus), the quartet has enjoyed many successes in competitions such as the Eisteddfod Môn and Chester Festival. They have benefitted from master classes with distinguished musicians such as Simon Chalk and the Allegri String Quartet, collaborated in performances with harpist Catrin Finch, and taken part in recording sessions with Welsh composer, Owain Llwyd. The Brynafon String Quartet enjoyed performing as part of Bangor’s Olympic celebrations in 2012, and were also delighted to gain 3rd prize in the Ensemble 15-25 yrs competition at the Urdd National Eisteddfod 2012.
In 2019, the Brynarfon String Quartet integrated with members of the North Wales Camerata, and is now managed by Cellist, Elin Hâf Taylor (MA BMus). Collaborating with the Camerata brings a collective of high quality musicians from around the UK to create dynamic performances in North Wales, and beyond. The group comprises of professional, graduate and undergraduate instrumentalists with a breadth of performing experience to UK and international audiences. Individually, the members have performed in national groups (including the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and Great Britain) and at leading venues across the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall London, Symphony Hall Birmingham, St. David’s Hall Cardiff and The Sage Gateshead.
